Barite (or baryte) is a critical mineral, primarily used as a weighting agent in oil and gas drilling muds. Its value, however, is unlocked only after it’s processed to a specific fineness. For many operations, achieving a consistent, high-quality barite powder efficiently is the key to profitability.
This blog delves into the details of a modern, turn-key solution: a Complete Barite Grinding Production Line with a capacity of 20 tons per hour (TPH). We'll break down the entire process, from raw stone to packaged product, giving you a clear picture of what it takes to set up a state-of-the-art grinding facility.

1. Complete Process Flow & Equipment List

The 20tph barite powder production line follows a 6-step workflow, from raw ore to packaged powder. Each stage uses specialized equipment to ensure consistency and low waste.

1.Raw Material Crushing

Large raw barite rocks (typically <350mm) are fed into a jaw crusher for primary size reduction. This reduces the barite to a smaller, more uniform size (approx. 0-25mm) suitable for grinding.

2.Material Conveying

The crushed barite is elevated by a bucket elevator into a raw material silo. A vibrating feede rand conveyor system consistently feed the material into grinding mill. This process prevents dust leakage and material loss.

3.Fine Grinding

This is the heart of barite powder production line. For a 20tph capacity, a large Raymond Mill system (e.g., 5R4119 or 6R4525) is typically employed. The mill grinds the barite using rollers and a grinding ring, Raymond Roller Mill (5R4119 or similar) or a high-pressure grinding mill (YGM 160, ) is typically the ideal choice, balancing efficiency and cost.

4.Powder Classification

In the raymond mill, there is powder classifier on the top. The being grinded powder is routed to the classifier along the circulation wind of the blower. With the function of impellers and airflow of the fan, materials without meeting fineness are fallen into grinding chamber for grinding again. Qualified powder are blown into a cyclone with airflow through pipelines for collection.

5.Dust Collection

Pulse Dust Collector could captures 99.9% of dust generated during grinding/classification. It could meets environmental standards.

6. Powder Packing

The finished barite powder is conveyed to storage silos and then automatically weighed and packed. The system of Screw conveyor, storage silo, automatic packing machine (Valve Bag Packer) can be configured for 25kg/50kg/1-ton jumbo bags ensureing accurate weighing and fast sealing.

Power Consumption & Required Area

1.Total Installed Power:Approximately 300 - 440 kW. The actual running power depends on the hardness of the raw barite and the final fineness required.
2.Required Floor Area:A compact and efficient layout for this 20TPH line typically requires a space of about 25m (L) x 15m (W) x 15m (H), or roughly 375 sq. meters. This includes space for operational and maintenance access.

Product Fineness Range

The flexibility of this grinding line is one of its key strengths. It can produce barite powder within a wide fineness range to meet various market demands:

1.Standard Range: 200 mesh to 325 mesh (74µm to 44µm).
2.Extended Capability: With an optional classifier upgrade, the system can achieve a finer product up to 400 mesh (37µm) for specialized applications.
