Indonesia's volcanic geology provides an abundance of andesite, a hard, abrasive, and durable igneous rock highly prized for construction. Indonesia’s Andesite mines are scattered and remote construction sites often face challenges of high raw material transportation costs and delayed supply. To address these pain points, a leading Indonesian construction materials enterprise invested in a 150tph mobile andesite crushing production line, aiming to achieve on-site processing, cost reduction, and efficient aggregate supply.
Andesite is a hard, tough, and highly abrasive volcanic rock, posing a significant challenge for crushing equipment. The plant needed to be located in a mountainous quarry with limited space and required the ability to relocate as the quarry face advanced. The client required a robust and reliable solution capable of handling the abrasive nature of andesite while producing well-shaped, high-quality aggregates in three specific sizes, all within a 150tph capacity target.
A combination of a mobile jaw crusher and a mobile cone crusher was selected as the ideal configuration. This setup is particularly effective for hard and abrasive rocks, as the compressive crushing action of the cone crusher is better suited to this material than an impact crusher, leading to lower wear costs and more consistent output.
● Equipment: Mobile Jaw Crusher station equipped with a PE600x900 jaw crusher.
● Function: This unit serves as the primary crusher. Large andesite boulders are fed into the vibrating feeder. The sturdy PE600x900 jaw crusher performs the initial size reduction, breaking down the large rocks to a manageable size of approximately 100-150mm.
● Advantages: Known for its reliability and high performance, the PE600x900 provides a steady, coarse feed for the secondary crushing stage, even under the continuous stress of processing hard andesite.
● Equipment: Mobile Cone Crusher station equipped with an HPC300 multi-cylinder hydraulic cone crusher.
● Function: The pre-crushed material from the jaw crusher is conveyed to the HPC300 cone crusher. This is the core of the final product shaping and sizing. The HPC300 performs secondary and fine crushing. Its advanced hydraulic system allows for precise adjustment of the discharge setting, enabling the consistent production of three distinct, well-shaped aggregate sizes.
● Advantages: The HPC300 cone crusher is highly efficient for abrasive rock crushing. Its multi-cylinder design provides greater crushing force and stability, resulting in excellent particle shape (cubical), high productivity, and controlled wear, which is critical for the economic viability of processing andesite.
● The crushed material is then sorted by a mobile vibrating screen into the three required final product sizes: 0-5mm (manufactured sand), 5-15mm, and 15-30mm. The plant operates in a closed circuit, meaning any oversized material is automatically recirculated back to the cone crusher for further reduction, ensuring maximum efficiency and consistent product gradation.

1. Optimized for Abrasive Rock: The jaw-and-cone combination is the industry-preferred solution for hard and abrasive materials like andesite, ensuring lower long-term wear costs compared to alternative configurations.
