Ethiopia's road and housing programmes keep demand for crushed stone steady. For a quarry owner adding a line, or an investor putting together a first plant, the impact crusher is usually the machine that decides whether the whole operation runs smoothly. Baichy has shipped impact crushers to Ethiopia before, so the PF1214 and PF1315 are not untested here.

Why an impact crusher fits Ethiopian quarries

Most aggregate in Ethiopia goes into road base and concrete. Both need 0–40 mm material with a decent cubical shape and low flake content. Impact crushers handle that well, and they do it on the limestone and sandstone that most Ethiopian quarries work with. Compared with a cone crusher, the capital cost is lower at small and mid-sized capacities, maintenance is simpler, and local operators pick it up faster.

PF1214: the model most small and mid-sized plants start with

The PF1214 takes feed up to 350 mm through a 400 × 1430 mm opening and runs at 80–180 t/h. That range covers what most Ethiopian quarries and first-phase plants actually need: enough output to keep a road project supplied, without sinking money into a machine that runs half empty.

Wear parts matter here. Blow bars and impact plates for the PF1214 can often be matched by local machine shops, so a worn part does not mean weeks of waiting on an import. Baichy also adjusts voltage and other details for Ethiopia before shipment, based on what earlier units in the country have shown.

PF1315: for plants with steady feed and bigger contracts

If your quarry already has reliable raw material supply, or the new line is being built around a long-term contract with a road project or a ready-mix plant, the PF1315 gives more room. Feed size goes up to 500 mm, capacity reaches 100–280 t/h, and motor power is around 200 kW. In the same running hours it turns out roughly 40–50% more finished material than the PF1214.

The catch is the rest of the plant. If the screens and conveyors were sized for a PF1214, a PF1315 will overload the screening circuit—bins fill up and recirculating load climbs. Baichy's people in Ethiopia can check the whole circuit before you commit, so the crusher is not oversized or undersized against everything downstream.

Two things to settle before you order

Check the rock first. Limestone in different parts of Ethiopia wears blow bars at different rates, largely depending on silica content. Send Baichy a sample and they will recommend high-chrome or martensitic blow bars. Settling this before the contract is much easier than changing parts after start-up.

Ask for the foundation drawings early. Bolt positions and feed chute angle affect how steadily the crusher runs. Baichy sends English foundation and wiring drawings with Ethiopia-bound equipment, so the local civil crew can pour the foundation without a Chinese engineer on site. For a small investor, that is a real saving.

Case Study: PF1315 Impact Crusher Crushing Limestone in Ethiopia

A Baichy PF1315 impact crusher is running on a limestone quarry in Ethiopia, producing high-quality aggregate for concrete and road base. The machine takes feed up to 500 mm and delivers 0–40 mm cubical product with low flake content, meeting local construction specifications. Output has been steady since commissioning, and wear parts have held up well against the quarry's limestone.

Customer feedback: "The PF1315 gives us clean, well-shaped aggregate and keeps up with our supply contracts. Setup was straightforward with the drawings Baichy provided, and our operators find it easy to maintain."

Ethiopia's aggregate demand is there, but more producers are chasing it every year. Getting a line running early and keeping output steady is what wins the long-term road and concrete contracts. The PF1214 and PF1315 have both run in Ethiopia already. If you are weighing options for a new line, send Baichy your material details and target capacity and ask what they would recommend for your site.
