Recently Baichy completed a single drum rotary dryer 1.5x15m for Indonsia client. This 1.5x15m rotary dryer is a cylindrical machine used for drying materials by rotating them within a heated chamber. The "1.5x15m" refers to its dimensions: 1.5 meters in diameter and 15 meters in length. Its capacity is 3-5 ton per hour. The rotary drum dryers are commonly employed in various industries to remove moisture from materials like coal, sand, sludge, and other granular substances.

Rotary Dryer Key Components

The core rotating drum dryer—steel-made with heat/corrosion-resistant linings—is inclined (2°–5°) to aid material flow. Support rollers and trunnion rings stabilize rotation, while a drive system (motor, reducer) controls speed (1–5 rpm). Internal lifters cascade materials to maximize contact with hot gas. Feed chutes, discharge hoods, heat sources (burners/exchangers), and exhaust systems (fans, filters) complete the setup.

Working Principle​

Wet silica sand materials enter the inclined drum, where rotation and lifters expose them to hot gas (co-current or counter-current flow). Direct heat dryers use gas-material contact (convection) for porous materials. Moisture evaporates into the gas stream, with drum length, speed, and temperature calibrated for target moisture levels.
