A gold mining customer in the Philippines was looking for an efficient solution to recover valuable gold from existing mine tailings. Although the tailings had already undergone previous processing, a certain amount of fine gold remained in the material. Based on the customer's requirements, Baichy designed a 1TPH small scale Carbon-in-Pulp (CIP) gold processing plant to reprocess the gold-bearing tailings. The project focuses on improving gold recovery efficiency through fine grinding, cyanide leaching and activated carbon adsorption technology. The raw material is gold mine tailings with a feeding size of 30-250 mesh, and the plant is designed for stable operation with a processing capacity of 1 ton per hour.

The gold tailings are first fed into the drum screen for separation and classification. The drum screen removes oversized particles and impurities, ensuring that suitable material enters the following grinding process. This step helps improve the stability of the whole production line and protects the downstream equipment from unnecessary wear.
After screening, the material enters the 900×1800 ball mill for further grinding. Although the tailings have relatively fine particle size, grinding is still necessary to improve gold liberation. The ball mill reduces the particle size and releases more gold particles from the mineral structure, creating better conditions for the leaching process. The optimized grinding process helps increase gold recovery and ensures stable slurry quality.
The ground ore slurry is transferred to the mixing tank, where the slurry concentration and chemical conditions are adjusted before entering the leaching system. The slurry then flows into the leaching tanks, where gold reacts with the leaching solution and dissolves into the liquid phase. The multi-stage leaching design provides sufficient retention time, allowing more gold to be extracted from the tailings.
After leaching, the slurry enters the adsorption tanks. Activated carbon is added into the adsorption system to capture dissolved gold from the solution. This CIP process improves gold recovery efficiency and is widely applied in gold processing plants. The loaded carbon is then sent to the carbon recovery system, where gold is separated from the carbon for further recovery.
After gold recovery, the remaining slurry is processed through the filter system. The filter separates solid and liquid components, helping recycle process water and reduce tailings discharge volume. The slurry transfer throughout the plant is supported by reliable pumps, ensuring smooth material transportation between different processing stages.
