300tph Basalt Crusher Plant in Mexico: High-Efficiency Solution for Hard Rock Crushing

The project is located in Mexico, where abundant basalt reserves provide a steady raw material source. The client’s core requirement was to produce 300 tons of qualified aggregates per hour, with finished product specifications including 0-5mm, 5-10mm, 10-20mm, and 20-31.5mm—all meeting Mexico’s national standards for high-grade infrastructure projects. These aggregates are primarily used in highway pavements, railway ballasts, and high-rise building concrete, requiring strict control over particle shape, uniformity, and strength.  This basalt crusher plant features a well-optimized two-stage crushing circuit with pre-screening, ensuring excellent product shape and consistent output.

Basalt is a hard, abrasive, and dense volcanic rock, posing significant challenges for crushing equipment. The final aggregates needed to have a well-graded, cubical shape for use in high-strength concrete, ruling out cone crusher setups that produce flaky particles. And it needs to ensure a steady and well-distributed flow of material to the primary crusher and secondary is critical for maximizing overall plant efficiency.

The Basalt Crushing Line Configuration & Equipment Introduction

The plant is designed with a logical flow of size reduction and classification, utilizing each piece of equipment to its maximum potential.

1. Vibrating Feeder

The process begins with a heavy-duty vibrating feeder ZSW1149 . Its key role is to ensure a steady and controlled feed of large basalt bouldersfrom the hopper to the primary crusher. Its grizzly bars can pre-screen fine soil and small particles, improving crusher efficiency.

2. Primary Crushing Machine: Jaw Crusher C110

As the primary crusher, Jaw Crusher C110  is designed to handle the toughest materials like basalt. Its high crushing capacity and deep crushing chamber effectively reduce the large basalt rocksto a manageable size of around 150-200mm. C-series jaw crusher is renowned for its reliability and low operational costs.

3. Buffer Hopper & Vibrating Grizzly Feeder: GZG100-4

Crushed material from the jaw crusher is conveyed to a buffer hopper, which is equipped with a vibrating feeder GZG100-4 . It regulates the feed to the secondary crusher, preventing overloading and ensuring a consistent, choke-free flow.

4. Secondary Crusher: Impact Crusher PFW1320

For secondary crushing, the crushing plant employs a  Hydraulic Impact Crusher PFW1320.  The impact crusher uses a high-speed impact force to break the stones, resulting in a final product with a well-defined, cubical shape. The hydraulic adjustment system of impact crusher allows for quick and easy setting changes.

5. Screening Machine: 3YK2470 Vibrating Screen

The final classification is handled by the 3YK2470 triple-deck vibrating screen. It precisely separates the crushed material into three to four different specified product sizes (e.g., 0-5mm, 5-15mm, 15-25mm, and 25mm+). Oversized material is recirculated back to the secondary crusher for further processing, ensuring all output meets the required specifications.

Key Advantages of This 300TPH Basalt Crushing Line

1.High Efficiency and Stable Output: The optimized configuration guarantees a steady production of 300 tons per hour, meeting the project's high-volume demands.

2. Excellent Final Product Shape: The combination of the jaw crusher for size reduction and the impact crusher for shaping results in superior, cubical aggregates that are highly valued in the market.

3. Robustness and Low Wear: The selected equipment, especially the C110 Jaw Crusher and PFW1320 Impact Crusher, are built with high-quality, wear-resistant materials, significantly reducing maintenance downtime and operational costs.

4. Automated and Smooth Operation: The integrated system, with components like the GZG feeder ensuring a balanced flow, minimizes bottlenecks and allows for semi-automatic control, reducing labor costs.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. Why use an impact crusher instead of a cone crusher for basalt?

While both are excellent for secondary crushing, an impact crusher typically produces a better cubical shape, which is crucial for concrete aggregate. Cone crushers are often chosen for their ability to produce more fines and for harder, more abrasive materials where extreme wear is a concern. In this setup, the robust design of the PFW impact crusher provides an ideal balance of product shape and durability for basalt.

2. What is the role of the GZG100-4 grizzly feeder in the middle of the line?

Its role is twofold: to provide a consistent feed rate to the secondary crusher (preventing flooding or starvation) and to pre-screen material. By removing fines that are already to size, it increases the plant's effective capacity and reduces the load on the secondary crusher, leading to lower operating costs.

3. How to maintain the crusher plant for long-term stable operation?

Regularly inspect and replace wear parts (jaw plates, hammers, screen meshes), maintain proper lubrication of rotating components, and clean the equipment after daily operation. The plant’s automated control system also provides real-time fault alerts, enabling timely maintenance.

4. Can the plant be customized for different output specifications?

Yes, the 3YK2470 vibrating screen’s screen meshes can be replaced to adjust finished product sizes. The PFW1320’s discharge port is hydraulically adjustable, allowing flexibility to meet specific project requirements for aggregate granularity.
