About 150 TPH Mobile Stone Crusher for Processing Basalt

Project Overview:

A large mining and construction company in Guangdong Province, a major economic hub in Southern China, was contracted to supply high-quality aggregates for a critical infrastructure project. The primary raw material to be processed was basalt, a hard, abrasive, and high-strength volcanic rock known for its excellent durability, making it ideal for high-standard concrete and asphalt mixes. The project required a crushing solution that could be set up quickly and operate efficiently in the region's humid climate while strictly adhering to Guangdong's rigorous environmental protection standards.

The Challenge:

Basalt is one of the hardest rocks to crush, causing rapid wear on crusher components. The selected equipment needed exceptional wear resistance and crushing power. The infrastructure project required aggregates with a perfect cubical shape for optimal compaction and strength, ruling out simpler crushing methods. Guangdong has strict dust emission limits. Controlling dust from crushing such hard rock was a top priority to avoid production stoppages and fines.

The Solution: Two-Unit Mobile Stone Crushing Plant

To meet these demanding requirements, a high-performance two-stage mobile crushing circuit was implemented. This setup is designed for a capacity of 150 tons per hour (TPH) and focuses on producing premium-shaped aggregates from tough basalt.

1. Mobile Jaw Crusher (Primary Unit)

The first unit is a mobile station equipped with a PE600x900 Jaw Crusher and a vibrating feeder. This robust machine is designed for the tough job of primary crushing, taking large basalt boulders (up to ~500mm) and breaking them down to a smaller size of around 150-200mm. Its simple and strong structure makes it ideal for withstanding the high pressure of crushing hard rock.

2. Mobile Multi-Cylinder Cone Crusher (Secondary Unit)

The second unit features a HPC300 Multi-Cylinder Hydraulic Cone Crusher. This is the heart of the final product shaping. The HPC300 is specifically engineered for intermediate and fine crushing of hard, abrasive materials. Its multi-cylinder hydraulic system provides excellent overload protection, allows for automatic clearing, and enables precise adjustment of the discharge setting to control product size and shape, ensuring a high yield of cubical aggregates.

3. Pulse Jet Bag Dust Collector

An advanced pulse-jet baghouse dust collector was integrated into the system. This environmental safeguard effectively captures dust generated at key transfer points, such as the crusher inlets and discharge conveyors. It ensures that particulate emissions are kept well within regulatory limits, protecting both the workers' health and the surrounding environment.

4.Process Flow

Large basalt rocks are fed into the Mobile Jaw Crusher (PE600x900) for primary crushing. The crushed material is then conveyed to the Mobile Cone Crusher (HPC300) for secondary crushing and final shaping. The use of a mobile vibrating screen (either integrated with the cone crusher or as a separate unit) can be added to sort the final product into different sizes. The Pulse Dust Collector runs simultaneously, ensuring an environmentally friendly operation.

Key Advantages of This Mobile Stone Crushing Plant

1. Optimized for Hard Rock: The combination of a sturdy jaw crusher for primary reduction and a multi-cylinder cone crusher for secondary crushing is the most effective technical solution for processing highly abrasive basalt, balancing capacity, product shape, and wear part cost.

2. Superior Final Product Quality: The HPC300 cone crusher produces well-shaped, cubical aggregates that are highly valued for high-grade construction projects like expressways, providing superior structural integrity.

3. Superior Final Product Quality: The HPC300 cone crusher produces well-shaped, cubical aggregates that are highly valued for high-grade construction projects like expressways, providing superior structural integrity.

4. High Reliability and Intelligent Control: The multi-cylinder hydraulic system of the HPC300 offers intelligent control over the crushing process, including automatic cavity clearing and setting adjustment, which significantly reduces the risk of unplanned downtime.

5. Exemplary Environmental Protection: The integrated pulse dust collector makes this a green operation, demonstrating a commitment to sustainable and responsible industrial practices, which is crucial for obtaining and maintaining operational permits.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Find answers to the most common questions about Baichy Machinery. If you can’t find what you’re looking for here, please contact us.

1. Why is a cone crusher necessary instead of just using a jaw crusher?

While the jaw crusher does the initial "heavy lifting," a multi-cylinder cone crusher like the HPC300 is essential for secondary crushing. It applies the "inter-particle crushing" principle, which produces a finer, more cubical product that is ideal for high-strength concrete. A jaw crusher alone cannot achieve this high-quality shape.

2. How does the pulse jet dust collector work?

The pulse jet dust collector uses filter bags to capture dust. When pressure builds up, a control system triggers short, powerful bursts of compressed air (pulses) to clean the bags, shaking the dust loose into a hopper. This system is highly efficient, automated, and well-suited for the fine dust generated from crushing hard materials like basalt, offering superior performance compared to simple water sprays.

3. Can this plant produce different aggregate sizes simultaneously?

Yes. By adding a mobile vibrating screen to the circuit (either as a separate unit or one integrated with the cone crusher), the crushed material can be sorted into multiple, precisely defined product sizes (e.g., 0-5mm, 5-15mm, 15-25mm) to meet various project specifications.

4. What is the quality of the finished basalt aggregate?

The finished aggregate (10-20 mm) meets China’s GB/T 14685-2022 Standard for Construction Aggregates and GBA high-speed rail/bridge requirements: 1) Compressive strength ≥300 MPa; 2) Particle shape: elongation index ≤12% (uniform and angular); 3) Impurity content ≤0.3%. It has passed third-party testing and is officially approved for use in the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link project.
